| The Confetti Company is a series of books and tapes that was co-created by Neal. Stuart Wiener, longtime partner and friend, came to Neal and his wife Naomi with the concept of creating a fairy tale series for African-American children. Up to that time all the faces in the traditional fairy tales where white. The concept they came up with was to create an elementary school drama club. The kids would put on the fairy tales and dress up as the characters. Naomi wrote the stories to have healthy role models and get the kids interested in reading. Neal illustrated the books and wrote the score for the tapes which were narrated by Robert Guillaume. |
